Mimi Goese is a singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, actor, performer and visual artist. New York based since 1984, Mimi has worked on various projects with Choreographers: Jo Andres, DANCENOISE, and Butoh artist Poppo Sharishi; Theater Directors: Richard Elovich, Ain Gordon, Julia Heyward, John Moran and Bob McGrath of Ridge Theater; and Film Directors: Jo Andres, Michael Stiller and Abigail Simon. Musical pursuits have included the bands Hugo Largo (on Brian Eno‘s Opal/Land Label) and Mimi/Soak and collaborations with composers Moby, A. Leroy, Hahn Rowe, Pearl Thompson (of The Cure) and Hector Zazou as well as soundtrack work for the experimental films Anemone Me and Dreaming Out Loud. Soak by the band, Mimi, was Goese’s solo musical effort with Hahn Rowe on David Byrne’s Luaka Bop Label, in 1998. Mimi Goese and Ben Neill released music connected with their BAM Next Wave theatrical work, Persephone, under the title “Songs for Persephone” on Ramseur Records in 2011 and in 2020 they self released Life You Are in 2020. The re-release of Hugo Largo’s “Drum” and “Mettle” as well as unreleased and live music is expected in late 2023
